The M9 Bayonet was officially adopted by the U.S. Army in 1984 (black is non-military issue), replacing the M7 Bayonet. Its specially designed sheath doubles as a wire cutter and screwdriver and is also equipped with a quick release military holster. The 7 inch blade is .235 inches thick and is made of 420 modified stainless steel. It has a non-reflective black oxide finish with milled sawteeth on the back.
