Pointed Kubotan Keyrings

Kubotans were originally developed as tools for police officers to restrain suspects without causing them permanent injury. They are extremely effective in breaking the will of unruly suspects. Because of this effectiveness, kubotan keyrings have been dubbed the instruments of "attitude adjustment".

Even for those without experience in a martial art, kubotan keyrings provide an inexpensive means of self defense. Kubotans increase the power of any strike. These kubotan keyrings are designed to be used against bony surfaces, soft tissue and nerve points. They are effective because of the temporary paralysis or extreme pain they cause.

Good targets are the groin, stomach, solar plexis, throat, the arm, the shin, hip bone, collarbone, ankle and kneecap. A sharp strike to a bony part of the body will stop an assailant in his tracks. A harder, well placed blow can even break bones.

The most basic applications for kubotan keyrings involve striking or poking vulnerable areas of the body. Generally, swinging strikes work better on bony areas of the body while fleshy areas are more susceptible to pokes and jabs with the ends of a kubotan. A good rule of thumb is to strike at boney areas of the body. Use pokes and jabs on those soft tissue areas as well as on pressure points.

Don't worry about landing the perfect strike. Just hit as hard as you can. Since nerves are close to the surface of most bony parts, even a glancing blow will inflict enough pain to make your assailant think twice about continuing an attack.

You can also use the keys you have attached to the kubotan keyrings as a flail. You can hold a kubotan and swing the keys around in a circular motion, thus creating a flail. This is most effective when you hit the face with the wad of keys at the end of the flail. This flail is especially effective if you aim for the eyes.
