Gerber partnered with Butch Vallotton, the famed Oregon custom knife maker, to bring this namesake design to the F.A.S.T. Series. The Vallotton combines an extremely lightweight, gun-checkered handle with the crisp simplicity of the F.A.S.T. Assisted Opening technology, which has a safety and lock release, all in a slim profile that clips securely in the pocket.

Gerber's F.A.S.T. (Forward Action Spring Technology) allows a spring to open the blade when the knife is about ten degrees open. This pushes the blade open for a lightning quick release, opening the blade the rest of the way, using only one hand.
