Col. Rex Applegate was one of the foremost authorities in Close Quarters Combat and was one of the first members of the OSS (Office of Strategic Services). As a forerunner to the CIA, he served in numerous missions during WWII, and many of the training manuals that he authored are still in use today. The Applegate-Fairbairn family of knives is based on the designs developed when Col. Applegate and William Fairbairn worked together to develop techniques outlined in their work.
